내 작업의 핵심은 '리듬적 스타일'에 있다. 이 스타일은 캔버스에 물감을 얹는 순간부터 시작되는 붓터치의 개별 단위, 즉 리듬과 제스처에서 비롯되며, 이러한 리듬과 제스처는 작업의 전반적인 흐름과 형태에 자연스럽게 스며든다. 작업 과정에서 다양한 형태적 단위들이 결합하여 하나의 통일된 형상을 이룬다. 이는 단순한 시각적 표현을 넘어 형상 그 자체에 대한 깊은 탐구로 이어진다. 각각의 형태적 단위들은 독립적인 존재로서 기능하면서도, 상호작용하고 결합될 때 새로운 형태적 의미와 구조를 만들어낸다. 이러한 과정은 회화적 언어 속에서 형태와 리듬이 유기적으로 결합하는 중요한 역할을 하며, 이를 통해 나만의 고유한 스타일을 형성하게 된다.

내 작업은 현대 사회의 이미지 환경과 관계를 맺고 있지만, 그보다는 순수한 형태와 회화성에 더 집중한다. 웹 파운드 이미지를 재해석하여 작업에 활용하면서, 특정 대상보다 그 대상이 지닌 시각적 특성과 형태를 탐구하는 데 주된 초점을 둔다. 내 작업은 단순히 일상의 장면을 재현하는 것이 아니라, 대상의 형태적 특징을 부각하고 그 과정에서 회화적 요소를 강조하는 방식으로 전개된다.

그림을 그릴 때, 나는 구상에 기반을 두고 있지만, 제스처적 단위들이 결합하는 방식과 우연성을 수용한 회화 기법을 통해 스타일과 리듬이 더욱 부각된다. 이는 단순한 묘사보다는 대상의 복잡한 구조를 단순한 형태로 환원하고, 그 속에서 리듬과 형태를 발견해내는 과정을 중요하게 여긴다. 나는 이 과정을 통해 형태적 요소와 회화적 표현의 조화를 이루며, 그 속에서 나만의 리듬적 스타일을 형성해간다.

또한, 회화적 표현과 형태적 요소에 집중하기 위한 장치로 색채의 복잡성을 배제하고 단순화된 색을 선택하게 되었다. 단색조는 리듬적 흐름과 형태적 구성을 더욱 도드라지게 하여, 그리는 나, 수행자로 부터 형태와 구조에 더 깊이 몰입할 수 있도록 돕는다. 이러한 접근은 몰입의 순간과 대상이 가진 본질을 순수하게 드러나게 한다.

최근의 작업에서는 일상 속에서 몰입된 대상이나 상태를 주제로 삼아, 대상을 바라보는 나의 몰입 상태를 회화적으로 표현하는 데 집중하고 있다. 대상과 배경, 그리고 나의 리듬이 하나로 어우러지는 통합된 작품을 지향한다.

The core of my work lies in the "rhythmic style." This style originates from the individual units of brushstrokes—rhythm and gesture—that begin the moment paint is applied to the canvas. These rhythmic gestures naturally permeate the overall flow and form of the work. During the process, various formal units combine to create a unified form, extending beyond simple visual representation into a deep exploration of form itself. Each unit functions independently, yet when interacting and merging, they create new meanings and structures. This process plays a crucial role in the organic fusion of form and rhythm within my pictorial language, ultimately shaping my distinctive style.

While my work relates to the image environment of contemporary society, it is more focused on pure form and painterly qualities. By reinterpreting web-found images, I focus not on the specific subjects but rather on exploring their visual characteristics and forms. My work does not merely depict everyday scenes; it highlights the formal features of the subject and emphasizes painterly elements in the process.

When I paint, though based in figuration, the way I combine gestural units and embrace spontaneity in my techniques emphasizes style and rhythm. This process is not about simple description but about reducing complex structures into simplified forms and discovering rhythm and shape within. Through this process, I focus on achieving harmony between formal elements and painterly expression, shaping my unique rhythmic style.

Additionally, to focus more on painterly expression and formal elements, I have simplified color choices, avoiding complexity in favor of monochromatic tones. This monochrome approach enhances the rhythmic flow and formal composition, allowing me, as the performer, to immerse more deeply into the form and structure. This approach helps to reveal the essence of the moment of immersion and the subject’s true nature.

In recent works, I focus on subjects or states immersed in everyday life, concentrating on expressing my own immersion as I observe these subjects. I aim to create integrated works where the subject, background, and my rhythm harmonize as one.
